Since there are so many things against black youth we are For Black Youth, because we feel that the African-America community needs targeted solutions to combat our unacceptably low educational, income and employment statistics. | Dr. J. Owen Smith |
Dr. J. Owens Smith is a professor of Afro-Ethnic Studies and Political Science at California State University at Fullerton. He received his B.A. in Journalism at California State University at Los Angeles, and his MA and Ph.D. in political science at the University of Chicago.
His primary area of research is studying (1) why African Americans have not been able to escape the slums like other groups, and (2) what can be done to help them to escape the slums?
His secondary area of research is in the area of community development. Before the African Americans community can be developed, he argues, leaders must first focus on developing the individual personality in a way to stimulate community development. The institution that is best suited to carry out this function is the church. Dr. Smith argues that the Black churches can significantly contribute to community development simply by encouraging their congregations to embrace the principles of tithing and saving as a tool for both spiritual growth and development. The failure to adopt this principle, he argues, lies at the core of the deterioration of the African American community. |

| Harold Whaley |
| Having been involved in music since the age of 8 years old, Harold Whaley has covered a complete gamut of entertainment ventures. Most people tend to be involved in and master one or a couple of components of the industry, but Harold has been labeled a renascence man of the entertainment business. Joining the military at the age of 17, and spending his next 10 years as a navy sailor, allowed him to travel to destinations that opened his horizons for a fruitful adventurous future career in the entertainment industry. While in the Navy, Harold through blessings and chance found himself working with some of the most prominent industry figures of our day, to include artist Patti Labelle to Snoop Dogg. |

On an individual basis, Nutrition Coach Network takes a non-traditional approach to assessing your nutritional needs. We recognize that your schedule may be busy making the traditional “office visit” infeasible. In an effort to save you time and gas, Nutrition Coach Network provides internet-based, nutritional self-assessments and our Certified Nutrition Coaches can train you via the telephone.
